Check Out the Cross Roads Country Club on the East Cape

September 1st, 2008 Alfredo Cristo Posted in East Cape No Comments »

Located just about 45 minutes North of San Jose del Cabo (where the international airport is) at the intersection of the East Cape road and the Palo Escopeta Road is the Cross Roads Country Club.  It’s not so much a traditional country club as it is just a neat place to spend an afternoon.

You’ll find a great restaurant, bar, internet hotspot, public phone and book exchange at the Cross Roads.  This is a great stop along the way to Los Barriles or La Paz and I hear the food is excellent.  Saturday nights are open mike night and often see an impressive turnout.  Often times, patrons will camp right next door after a night of canoodling.  If you get lucky you might even see some celebrities - Lance Armstrong has been here and Jesse Ventura lives right up the street!

If you’re looking for a change of pace, take a trip to the East Cape and visit the Cross Roads Country Club along the way!

If you’re considering relocation to any of the East Cape towns in Mexico, please contact Alfredo Cristo for Baja Sur real estate information.

Phase One Marina and Golf Lots Now Available at Cabo Riviera

July 3rd, 2008 admin Posted in East Cape No Comments »

A new marina and golf course has entered the Mexico East Cape real estate scene in La Ribera - a small fishing village located on the Sea of Cortez in the Baja.  Cabo Riviera is a master planned community centralized around a marina and golf course offering 400 waterfront homesites and a secure place to park your boat.  The project is expected to be completed in 2011.  Two major five-star resort hotels will also be part of the master plan at Cabo Riviera.  The Mandarin Hotel has signed an agreement to build one of the hotels, but the other site has yet to be claimed.

In an effort to harmonize with the natural environment, these resort hotels will be limited to three stories and will incorporate the surrounding geographic elements.  Features such as fresh water estuaries and walking trails will highlight the low density site plans.  200 villas will be built in addition to the hotels.

There are only a few remaining homesites available in Phase One.  Prices range from $230,000 to $650,000 depending on golf course versus marina locations.  Phase one property owners will receive a developer incentive including 50% discounts on greens fees and 25% discounts on marina services.  Permanent owners will have the ability to leave up to 100 foot boats moored along the channel.  Vacation owners will be able to call the marina to have their boats taken out of dry dock and moved to their moorings to be ready in advance of their stay.

Please contact Alfredo Cristo for more information about this exciting new East Cape real estate opportunity.

Exploring La Paz, Los Barriles and Todos Santos from Cabo is Easier than you think!

April 30th, 2008 admin Posted in East Cape 4 Comments »

Cabo San Lucas is the typical destination for many Americans visiting the Baja for fun in the sun or sport fishing.  What many people don’t know is that there are plenty of hidden discoveries to be made in the surrounding towns of La Paz, Los Barriles and Todos Santos which are very accessible by car or touring company.  The international airport is located in San Jose del Cabo, you must take Hwy 1 south to the tip of the Baja (about 30 minutes) to get to Cabo San Lucas.  Highway 1 however continues West to Todos Santos, then North to La Paz and circles back around southeast to Los Barriles, San Jose del Cabo and back down south to Cabo San Lucas.

The excursion to visit each of these unique towns is easy enough for day trips or an overnight trip to the City of La Paz for a change of pace.  It is well worth it to stray off the beaten path to visit new locales and experience the gorgeous scenery and activities of the Baja.  The paved highway is now well managed, safe and quite easy to drive.  It is only two lanes so if you want to speed up the trip you should be comfortable with passing.  Todos Santos is about 1 hour from Cabo on the Western (Pacific) side of the Baja.  Here you’ll find the famed Hotel California (yes, that one!) and a quaint surfing village.  Pacific beaches can be dangerous with riptides, but the surfing is often exceptional!  If you continue North on Hwy 1 about another hour or so you’ll encounter the City of La Paz.  The heart of the city is built along a malecon (boardwalk) and is quite lovely.  La Paz is on the East Cape of the Baja (Sea of Cortez) and offers gorgeous and protected white sand beaches that often stretch for miles.  Circling back around, Hwy 1 takes you south (about 1.5 hours) to the charming seaside village of Los Barriles.  This is the only point where Hwy 1 touches the coast in this area of the East Cape.  It is largely undeveloped and offers some of the best sport fishing and most beautiful beaches around.  Sea of Cortez beaches are much friendlier as they are protected from weather inclement that often affects the Pacific side of the Baja (steep shorelines, deep drop-offs, wind and riptides).  From Los Barriles back down to Cabo is about an hour and a half ride.  It is well worth the trip.

If you love to visit Cabo but have never really found your inner explorer, we highly recommend it!  A snorkeling, diving or fishing trip to any of the East Cape towns is very feasible to do and you might just get hooked!  For now these areas are still mostly undeveloped so enjoy the wonderful natural habitat of East Cape beaches while you can.  Did we mention escaping the beach vendors for a day?

Enjoy the Untouched Natural Beauty of the Baja’s East Cape While it Lasts!

April 24th, 2008 admin Posted in East Cape 3 Comments »

Baja's Historic East CapeHistorically the East Cape of the Baja was a hidden playground to the stars and those passionate fisherman lucky enough to have a private pilot’s license.  Some of the richest fishing in the world can still be found off the Baja’s East Cape.  The area is remains a quiet hideaway to some as the Southern Baja Highway (Hwy 1) still doesn’t touch much of this natural area.  From Cabo San Lucas north, the highway meets the sea at Buena Vista and Los Barriles.  From La Paz south to Los Barriles the only access to the beautiful beaches on the East Cape is by 4×4 road.  This leaves an area between La Ribera and Los Barriles with little access and a large stretch from Los Barriles north to Bahia de los Suenos in a natural state (see blue line on the map).  Someday development will make it to the most beautiful part of the Baja, but for now these secret stretches of white sand beach and calm waters rich with aquatic life remain somewhat of a hidden secret.

Someday the highway will surely follow the East Cape to make this gorgeous real estate more accessible.  Today however, you’ll need a 4×4 vehicle or an ATV to brave the rough dirt roads.  It’s well worth it as some of the best scenery and most pristine beaches in the Baja await you.

Take a look at a virtual tour of some of the beautiful scenery that the Baja’s East Cape has to offer - this is perhaps Mexico as it was twenty years ago before major developers discovered gold!
